Talking To Your Repair Center

The following tips should help you when talking to your repair center. You do not need to know how a car works to successfully communicate your problems to a repair center. By talking and describing your vehicles’ symptoms as accurately as possible, they should be able to find your problem. Study the drivability and noise questionnaire to help you in describing your particular problem or noise.

  1. Read your owner’s manual and review the rest of this page and view the informational videos in our customer education center on our website.
  2. Follow the recommended services in our Maintenance is a Must guide that we have available for you FREE of charge at our shop. There are also great tip to follow in our preventative maintenance section of our website.
  3. Keep a record of all repairs and maintenance. You can also access your vehicle history with us by going to the car repairs section of our website and selecting vehicle history. This is also a great tool to have when selling your vehicle.
  4. You know your vehicle better than anyone else. You drive it every day and know how it feels and sounds when everything is right. So don’t ignore its warning signals and describe them as accurately as possible to your repair center.
  5. When you have a noise in your vehicle, have our service writer or technician hear it with you. A noise you hear may not be the noise that they hear.
  6. Make a written list of the symptoms that you are experiencing so that nothing is left out of the repair order.
  7. Resist the temptation to suggest a specific repair. Just like when you go to the doctors you only tell them where it hurts and for how long. Let the technician diagnose and recommend the repair so that unneeded parts are not wasted on your vehicle.
  8. Ask as many questions as you need. Do not be embarrassed to request any information in terms you can easily understand. We are more than willing to share as much information as you want so that you understand the repair.
  9. Don’t rush the service writer to or the technician to make an on the spot diagnosis before they can perform the needed tests.
  10. Don leave anything out thinking it will save you money. Any information may help the technician solve your problem. The more information you give the service writer, the quicker the diagnosis and the more money you will save in diagnosis fees.
  11. LEAVE A TELEPHONE #, or PAGER # and CELL PHONE # that you can be reached at during the entire day or your vehicles’ repairs may not be completed as soon as you would like. We also request you leave your E-MAIL ADDRESS so we can send you pictures of repairs if needed, so we can send you E-MAIL OFFERS and specials and so we can send you service reminders for each vehicle you have. Calling, e-mailing and texting are all necessary to keep in contact with you about your vehicle.
  12. There is a night drop box at our shop front door so you can drop you vehicle off after hours. Just fill out one of the forms in the box and leave your keys with the form. To save you time there is also an afterhours drop off form at the top of the main page of our website that you can print off, fill out and leave with your keys in our night drop box.
